Terms of Service

1. Agreement
By downloading, installing, or using PassportAlert ("the App"), you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the App.
The App is operated by Scalar Studio ("we", "us", "our").
2. What the App does
PassportAlert monitors publicly available UK passport appointment availability and notifies you when slots matching your preferences become available. The App:
- Checks appointment availability at regular intervals.
- Allows you to set preferences for offices, dates, and service types (Fast Track and Premium).
- Sends notifications via push, email, or SMS when matching slots are detected.
- Provides a link to the official GOV.UK booking page so you can book directly.
3. What the App does not do
- The App does not book appointments on your behalf.
- The App does not guarantee that a slot will still be available when you attempt to book. Appointment slots can be taken by other users at any time.
- The App does not interact with your passport application or any government account.
- The App is not a government service and has no special access to the booking system.
4. Not a government service
PassportAlert is an independent third-party tool. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to His Majesty's Passport Office (HMPO), HM Passport Office, or the UK Government in any way. All appointment data is gathered from publicly available sources.

5. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account and use the App. By creating an account, you confirm that you meet this age requirement.
6. Your account
- You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.
- You must provide a valid email address when registering.
- You may not create multiple accounts for the purpose of abusing the service.
- You can delete your account at any time from Settings > Delete Account. This permanently removes all your data.
7. Free and paid features
Free
All users can view the availability dashboard and check current appointment slot availability at no cost.
Plus
For a one-time payment, you can unlock notification features including push notifications, email alerts, office and date filtering, notification history, and quiet hours.
- The upgrade is a one-time, non-recurring purchase — there are no subscriptions or recurring charges.
- Payment is processed through Google Play, the Apple App Store (via RevenueCat), or Stripe on the web.
- Mobile purchases can be restored on a new device using the "Restore Purchases" button.
Pro
Includes everything in Plus, with the addition of SMS alerts (150 SMS over 60 days).
Refunds and consumer rights
All purchases are one-time payments with no auto-renewal. If you're not happy with the service, you may request a refund within 14 days of purchase by contacting us at support@passportalert.co.uk. Refund requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis and typically processed within 5 business days.
For mobile purchases made via the App Store or Google Play, refund requests are handled by the respective store in accordance with their refund policies. Please contact Apple or Google directly for in-app purchase refunds.
For web purchases made via Stripe, refunds are issued to the original payment method. Upon refund, your plan will be downgraded to Free and paid features will no longer be available.
Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, you have a 14-day cooling-off period from the date of purchase. By using the App's paid features immediately after purchase, you acknowledge that the service begins straight away and you consent to losing your right of withdrawal once the digital content has been fully provided.
Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory consumer rights.
8. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the App for any unlawful purpose.
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract the source code of the App.
- Interfere with or disrupt the App's infrastructure or other users' access.
- Create automated systems or bots that interact with the App's API without authorisation.
- Resell, redistribute, or commercially exploit notifications or data obtained through the App.
9. Availability and accuracy
No guarantee of availability: The App depends on external data sources that may change, become unavailable, or be rate-limited at any time. We do not guarantee that the App will be available 24/7 or that notifications will always be delivered.
No guarantee of accuracy: Appointment data is gathered from publicly available sources and may be delayed, incomplete, or inaccurate. Always verify availability on the official GOV.UK website before making travel arrangements.
No guarantee of booking: Receiving a notification does not mean a slot is reserved for you. Appointment slots can be booked by other users at any time.
Notification delivery: Push notifications, email, and SMS are delivered on a best-effort basis. We do not guarantee that you will receive a notification for every available slot.
No responsibility for missed opportunities: We accept no responsibility for appointments you were unable to book due to notification delays, inaccurate data, service downtime, or slots being taken by other users.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- The App is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied.
- We are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from your use of the App.
- We are not liable for any losses resulting from missed appointments, failed notifications, inaccurate data, or service downtime.
- Our total liability to you shall not exceed the amount you paid for the App.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.
11. Intellectual property
The App, its design, code, and branding are owned by Scalar Studio. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes.
12. Privacy
Your use of the App is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect, use, and protect your data.
13. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via the App or email. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
14. Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms. You may stop using the App and delete your account at any time.
15. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
